This Keto Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Portobello recipe is a low-carb, high-protein, and cheesy delight that brings all the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak without the bread! Perfect for a satisfying and easy dinner.
Ingredients (Serves 4) 4 large portobello mushrooms, stems removed
1 lb (450g) thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye steak
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 yellow or red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt & pepper, to taste
4 slices provolone cheese (or any keto-friendly cheese)
Instructions Preheat & Prepare Mushrooms
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Clean portobello mushrooms by wiping them with a damp paper towel.
Remove stems and scoop out the gills to create space for the filling. Cook the Beef
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear thinly sliced beef until cooked to desired doneness.
Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Remove beef from skillet and set aside. Sauté Peppers & Onions
In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp olive oil + butter.
Sauté sliced onions and bell peppers until soft and slightly caramelized. Assemble & Bake
Preheat the oven’s broiler.
Stuff each portobello cap with cooked beef, sautéed onions, and peppers.
Top with a slice of provolone cheese.
Place on the baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
